Note that the blue corset is laced up the back with a single lace, using spiral lacing rather than the more pervasive Victorian method of corset lacing. Spiral lacing has been used from early medieval times, especially for undergarments and kirtles, as looks is neater and flatter beneath whatever is going on top.
